6/5/18: These photos are uploaded and probably taken 2 days before her death. I don’t know if she had a good life, but I sure doted my hamster a lot. At least, at the very beginning… She grew a tumour in her ear which was quite bad, but the vet didn’t recommend surgery or anything. She also went to the vet because of her eyes and needed eye drops for a while.
If you read my primary school blog posts, you will know that I had Snow White since P6. Since it had been a long time, I shall reveal the truth about Snow White.
Okay, so I really wanted to own a hamster, so I bought it at the pet store near my house. She cost $12. There were 2 hamsters at that time, I think I chose the skinnier one? Or was it the fatter one? Anyway, I chose her, and at first, I did not tell my parents. I think she escaped. Right, I hid her in the storeroom, and somehow she escaped the box and ran out. She ran till the lift lobby, and my parents ‘found’ her. Okay, my floor only have 4 flats and there is no possibility of a hamster taking a lift till 10th floor. Pretty sure my parents also know I bought it or something HAHAHA.
They decided to just let me keep it (YAY!). So that is the story of my first (and likely last) pet I have. I was very heartbroken when she died. I thought she was asleep until my dad shouted for me to check on her because ants were all around her. I was doing my math homework at that time.
It was really sad. The last time I saw her alive was in the afternoon or morning. I can’t really remember. She was sleeping at the upper pod (the cage has 2 floors, the top was a capsule looking pod) hours before she died. When my dad found her, she was actually in the bathing container. She had used the bathing container since I first got her. I don’t know, but we guessed that she knew she was going to die soon, so she decided to die at the place she loved the most?
We filled the bathing container with bathing sand and sealed it. Buried her in front of the river outside my condo. Her ‘coffin’ is still there. Months ago my dad told me the ‘coffin’ was showing because the sand decreased (?) so we went to put more sand on top of it.
It had been nice to had spent 2 years with my Snow White.
If you see the photos, you might be able to see the black thing in her ear. At first I thought it was shit stuck to the ears but nope, it is a tumour.
Anyway, I posted these photos on 23/4/2011 on my Facebook and she died on 25th. May I always remember her.
