So, my super ‘rich’ cousin bought Monopoly Then & Now Singapore because the credit cards are just too cool! What do you think? If you are sick and tired of the counting cash old monopoly style game play, you really have to try this out. Recommended for those not good in mathematics because not only you do not need a calculator, every transaction is done in the machine!
The credit cards come in six colours, green, purple, dark blue, light blue, yellow and orange. They should have provided pink and made the green and purple lighter. Popular colour among us will be light blue and yellow. I got the orange one in the end to play. Facts: the card serial is the same except for the first 4 numbers, which will be 0001 to 0006. The orange one(which is mine), is 0001. Which meant that it’s the first card.
This is the machine I’m talking about. It’s super cool. You put the card in at the bottom and the display shows how much you have. According to the display, the yellow card user( which is my cousin), got 35,000 million. He’s super rich because he owned 3 hotel and it seems that everyone loves visiting it. And the irony is, he only own 3 properties, while my sister owns many(yet going to be bankrupt), my brother who owns quite a little is not as rich and me who claimed Sentosa and the other blue one which I forgot, earns no money and went bankrupt. YAY!
This is how the game looks like. You can see three hotel there, owned by my cousin. Humfpt.
The Cathay is mine! (: MICA is owned by my sister and Fort Canning Park is owned by my brother.
Boat Quay, Red Dot Design Museum, Lau Pa Sat Festival Market. Owned by my brother.
The pieces is also something we could not make up our mind on. The airplane is very popular among us. But in the end my brother got it. I got the car cause it looks cool. My cousin took the Nokia phone. In case you have no idea which is the Nokia phone, it is beside the car, the rectangular looking piece. My sister took the tricycle, beside the Durian. I would have taken the Durian if it will not stop rolling everywhere!
The Then version is on the other side of the board. It have a vintage look and looks old but is cool. The most expensive property is old Sentosa, which my other cousin state that is a fishing village but I claim that it’s obviously a war place. Who’s right? Me? I’m a history student!
We have not open up the property card for the Then version. Vintage looking too, and the money value is little. For example, the cheapest property rent cost M2 in the then version, but thousands in the now version. Talk about inflation!!
Then version will obviously come with cash right? They do not have credit cards in the past okay!
Schools. I am thinking how old the school are now. Raffles institution, CHIJ and St Joseph Institution.
Old Sentosa and Oxley estate. Never heard of Oxley estate. Must be rich people housing area.
Are you all tempted to buy the monopoly set yet? ;D
Glad to know you like this too (:
I have played this version before! Was really fun! 🙂
