Have you ever thought of not needing to wake up in the morning every single day to go to school? I did, and I bet many students did. After you read this, hopefully you will feel blessed to go to school every day.
At the other side of the earth, there are many Iraqi children much younger than most of us helping out in the war. In fact, in every 5 minutes, there will be a child dying due to violence and war at the other end of the world. Those children will exchange everything they have to be in school instead of on the battleground, risking their life for their country. Could you imagine life as them, having no hopes and dreams except to survive just another day. Those precious children, who should also be given the chance like us to study, is protecting their country. However, here we are complaining about how we hate school and how much homework we have. Maybe it is time to stop complaining?
Also, somewhere on earth, there are millions of children being stuck at home to earn their next meal. While we are worrying about our next test, they have to worry about their next meal. If we fail our next test, we will score lower than our peers for the year. But if they could not get their next meal, it could meant death to them. For them, to be able to study and get a decent job in the future will be best thing that can ever happen to them.
In addition, how many little children are being sold to slavery or being used as child worker. There are so many children working as slaves because their parents really have not enough money to feed them and themselves. Child workers work long hours, even longer than our school hours and homework time add together, but get paid as less than a dollar a day. They do not get education of any sort, but dream to get one. Because if they can study, they can break free of their misery. However, how many of them actually get the chance? Nearly zero, I will say.
There are still many children out there doing things we can never imagine, so let us take a minute to feel blessed that we get education, and we have a future. Because the children will get none.
