So I actually went to the gym, today.
It all started with my aunt saying I grown fatter. So my determination to go and exercise to burn some calories is actually high.
I started with 10 minutes on the stationary bike, and for the first time this year I actually felt that my legs are fucking short. Like, I have difficulty stepping on the pedals when it is at the bottom. Also, the seat is super uncomfortable. It is designed for man, and for god sake, it is like very small and hard. Not comfy at all.
Then I did the stepping machine (I have no idea what is it called) and I think it is spoilt because it is not registering my steps. This machine is literally a killer. I am only using it for the duration of two songs, and I’m panting like crazy. I probably look like I have climbed a hill.
Lastly I used the treadmill, which is fun, because they upgraded the treadmill. Yes, the condo finally decided to get rid of the old and weird treadmill and replace with this super cool one. Probably very expensive but hey, it is really nice. I chose the fat burning mode, which is like the reason I’m in the gym in the first place. 15 minutes of running at a maximum of 5km/hr. I wanted to put it to 4km/hr but their lowest is 5km/hr. I admit I’m a slow runner and I honestly do not want to get thrown off the treadmill. Anyway, the 15 minute is a big big liar. They have 3 minutes of warm up plus 3 minutes of cool down. The whole thing starts from 1km/hr and slowly increase until 5km/hr with incline. Halfway while running you’ll feel the treadmill moving upwards. To say the truth, 5km/hr is too easy. The next time I’m going, I’ll put 6km/hr or 7km/hr for a challenge.
Anyway, to the challenge.
I’m just thinking of challenging myself to a gym challenge. Reasons:
- I’m going to be a health science student soon, if Singapore Poly wants me in their Biomedical Science course.
- I want to be healthy. I want to live a very long life disease-free. I don’t want to get cancer and stuff.
- I’m bored
So this is my challenge. I’ll be going to the gym once every two days for a month. I’ll exercise at least half an hour in there per session. This is what health people recommend, isn’t it? 3-4 times a week, half an hour per session. I’ll be trying out to see the result, and will update my progress on this blog. Since the gym is free to use and is sheltered from the basement, I can go in every day for the month. Plus, it is just downstairs. With air-con and TV. Cool enough. 🙂
My current measurements are:
Height: 160cm
Weight: 42.4kg (I just measured it after dinner)
BMI: 16.6 , which is not good. Risk of heart disease and diabetes.
I’ll update again maybe after a week of the challenge? ;D I’ll work hard to make sure I exercise for a month!
