Hey come on people…
I know SP DBS (Singapore Polytechnic’s Diploma in Biomedical Sciences) is one of the ‘hot’ courses among the polytechnic courses in Singapore but you guys don’t have to be so kiasu.
As someone who used to stress over whether to apply for SP DBS after my O levels, I know asking seniors about the course is the best way. After all, they had first-hand experience and can give better advice than those useless SP official website which, to be honest, is pretty useless (except to find module codes). I don’t mind sharing my experience with people who are interested. In fact, I’ve done it so many time since I entered DBS. It’s ok to be curious about what you study and what you do. But…
I’ve received so many messages on various social media platforms about the course (which I can understand and don’t mind), but I also received messages from people (who haven’t even matriculate/take their O levels) who want course notes from me. Like WTF?
Ok first, get yourself a place in the course before asking for notes ok? Finish your o levels before asking. Imagine studying DBS notes but cannot get in in the end. LOL.
Second, I don’t even know who the fuck you are. Why should I help you to this extent?
Third, syllabus change. Keep up with time. Ask my juniors who just finish those modules. Maybe they are more generous than me.
By the way, is it even legal to share my Polytechnic notes with people not in the course? Logically speaking it is the property of my lecturer who made it so without their permission it is illegal to share it to public right?
Oh, it is rude af to ask for my GPA too. GET YOURSELF A SPOT IN THE COURSE BEFORE ASKING FOR MY GPA. Anyway, it’s good enough to enter both local and overseas university and I qualify for NTU/Edinburgh/Lancaster University ETC in addition to my current university. Fun fact, GPA is a sensitive topic in SP DBS. You are warned.
And nope, I do not give out my notes. Why should I give you things that you (not yet) deserve? My lecturers made those notes for students who matriculated. I organised those notes with my own effort. Why should I share it with people who had not yet to prove their worth to be in SP DBS? For example, I’m not NUS students so I don’t go asking my NUS friends for their notes. For the very reason I am not their student and I did not pay any fees to deserve those notes.
Of course, if you actually entered the course, then ya you deserve those materials. And at that time you will receive those notes from the lecturers. Why get hand me downs when you can get updated revised first-hand copies?
Bottom line, don’t be so kiasu. You will burn out VERY QUICKLY.
Oh, and I’m a bad target to ask for notes. I hate studying although I love science. So… ya… my notes ain’t medical school worthy. I know, you peeps want to get in medical school. Or at least 90% of those who applied wants to at some point in time. Medical school is not my goal so… my notes are ‘as long as I can pass this shit’ type.
If you have so much time to track down seniors for their notes, spend some time doing an internship or job shadowing or volunteer work or whatsoever you need. Meanwhile, if you just want information I am okay with answering them. Unless you are going to ask questions like ‘How to enter Medical School?’, ‘How many students enter every year?’. Those questions, don’t come and ask me. I can only feed enough information to students who genuinely love science and wants to be in the biomedical sector.
Yea. Thanks.
