You know how sometimes school teaches some really useful software but doesn’t provide enough training for you to become proficient in it?
Not everyone is good at IT related stuff. And most of the time, when you are confused about how to use the software, you can’t find much help on Google because only people in the industry used it.
Recently, I just used a new software called R studio. I must admit it is a good software after getting a hang of it. I just wish my University provided a little more help or put in more information in the notes so that I didn’t have to spend hours going through the software.
Well, at least I mastered how to do meta-analysis on that software, but the initial figuring out part was frustrating. Plus, I decided to do the assignment on my laptop instead of using the school IT suite so I had to set up the software myself.
If I entered the school one level earlier, I would have basic training on it. Not like it mattered much, but it might have helped with the basics. I mean I could have asked the lecturers but I decided it is best if I played around a little before asking some pretty idiotic questions.
The notes aren’t very helpful in the sense that I realized while playing with the software, that we can do a lot of customization to the ‘codes’ to make our plots clearer but it wasn’t stated. It would have been a big help man…
Back in Polytechnic, they made us used Minitab17 and I LOVED THAT SOFTWARE. But the lecturer teaching it wasn’t the most fun and learning from Google was way faster and better (because of all the shortcuts they taught me^^).
I love these softwares, I just wish we are trained in it a little more.
