If you want to know the dumbest thing I did for this trip, it is to visit a nature reserve during winter.
I think I lost my common sense. I can’t believe I walked almost 2 hours only to realise “oh shit it is winter, the animals won’t come out.” Which turns out true, because the only animal I saw was dogs that are out walking with their owners.
Kincorth Hill
First, the ‘official entrance’ that Google Maps lead me to, does not look like an entrance at all. It was in the middle of nowhere and doesn’t even have a huge sign to ‘welcome’ you. The only thing that tells you it is Kincorth Hill, was a rundown signboard that could hardly be read anymore due to its condition.
Maybe because it was a really cold day, the road was covered in ice. All the plants are pretty much dormant so it looks really depressing.
Don’t visit Kincorth Hill during winter. It is not worth it, plus it just looks super sad and gloomy. I’ll probably revisit when it gets warmer because I really want to snap photos of wildlife.
Look how icy the road is. I think it snowed the night before but who knows? Maybe it is just colder than Dundee and the water froze. I had a lot of fun stepping on snow though. The feeling of it crumbling is very satisfying.
Look how dead they look. I wish I went when it is warmer. Seriously, it took me 2 hours to walk there and I swear it is really tiring…
A rare flower that wasn’t in dormant state.
A view from Aberdeen from the hill.

If you are going there from the railway or bus station, this is the route to take. You can choose to take a bus and walk about 15 minutes there, or just walk the entire journey. If you choose to walk, there isn’t really much nice scenery, except for River Dee. But you will walk past Tesco, Lidl, Subway etc so you can grab food and stuff.
For bus, take bus no 3. The bus station is right outside the shopping centre.
