Decided to go for the event that I didn’t go for last year because I was busy earning money. They said the event venue is larger this year so I was really expecting a spacious area. Bullshit.
Went with my sister at first and my cousin (Bry) said he will come over from East Coast Park after he is done with his stuff. My sister and I went quite early, about 4pm I think? There was no queue at all, and it was really spacious so I managed to take a few photos. We even finished seeing the whole place comfortably. Foods are expensive. Merchandises are mostly a waste of money. Seriously, a fairy light wrapped helium balloon?! But the place is pretty and that’s pretty much all.
We went back to MBS to get cheap food – Cold Storage’s sushi. When I was paying, the cashier auntie said we looked alike and asked if we’re sisters HAHA. We just chillax at the couch outside of Cold Storage until the sunset because we want to see Artbox at night. Mainly the light installation.
Since there was time to spare, we walked along the river to kill time. There was some busking event going on that day. And there was another event but we were not sure if we can enter.
Bry came over when we’re about to go queue (which was about 8pm). Holy cows the queue was super long. It was all the way to the door of MBS. Also, if we queued like 5 minutes later, it even formed a loop at the river area. It was that bad.
I was chatting with Bry while queueing and suddenly I heard this ‘someone jumped into the swimming pool’ sound. You can say that my mind was really confused at that time. I turned around and saw a lady standing inside the drain. And 2 guys were trying to get her up. She wasn’t injured, but her slippers were totally destroyed though. This is why kids, watch out for holes while walking. The drain wasn’t even small. It is huge and deep. I don’t know how she didn’t see the drain.
Also, my sister witnessed the whole incident. She said the boyfriend should have saved her. I hope she wasn’t walking to queue to enter Artbox because walking in destroy slippers was be gross. Or if she is going to buy a new one, it will probably cost like at least a hundred bucks at MBS because everything there are branded goods.
Anyway, the queue was super long. Took us a long time to enter. There was bag check and everything so it was super slow.
When we finally enter the venue, it was crowded af. A huge difference compared to the afternoon. It was actually suffocating to just walk around. Even queueing for food was torture. We queued like 30 minutes to get food. I nearly fainted. I even got dizzy (probably due to heat or the crowd or the lack of oxygen).
It got better after we got food. We just sat down and watch some SP students play songs on stage.
Artbox was nothing special. Just overpriced and crowded place that people go for no reasons. Won’t be going again next year for sure. I guess I will be avoiding crowded places for the time being.
T/N I went there on 1 June 2018.
