Mummy had been talking about going for hotpot buffet for a few days already, so we went to Jiu Gong Ge Hotpot at Bugis Cube for lunch.
The annoying thing about having a reservation is that I cannot take my own time. I was knocked out from the 2 days SAB visit talks and just wanted to sleep in on Sunday but was rudely awoken and rushed to get ready. There is no reason why we had to rush. The restaurant wasn’t even full the whole time we were there. Super shag on our way there.
I don’t know how much in total we paid for the lunch, but we went for the 2-in-1 BBQ & Hotpot Buffet. There is a base charge for the BBQ buffet, then they charge you extra for the soup base. We got the Yuan Yang pot for extra $9++ I think? I didn’t really pay attention to it. Drinks are also not included in the price, so we paid extra for a jug of lime juice. The jug is enough for 2 cups each for the 6 of us. Oh, and dining time limit is 90 minutes.
Ordering was done on the laminated menu. They gave us this laminated menu and a marker to choose whatever we want. Quite a huge variety, decent choices of meat, seafood, veggie and stuff.
We chose the chicken soup and tom yum soup for the hotpot. Avoid the chicken soup. It is bland like hell. Made JY tried and she made the ‘gross’ face LOL. Tom yum was better, not special but decent. We had to add tom yum soup into the chicken soup to make it taste better.
The food came pretty quickly after we ordered. They even gave us a little trolley thing to put the meats because the table is small. The seafood came first. And I got to mention that the crab they wrote on the menu is actually crabstick. The scallop was frozen. The rest was just okay, nothing special. The meat came second, which we cooked on the grill. At first, it was cooking really slowly. I had to ask the waitress to help us increase the voltage of the grill. The tofu and etc came last and we just dumped them in the hot pot.
They also had wagyu beef and premium meat on their menu, but I don’t taste any difference? It just tastes like normal meat to me LOL. This is why my friends say there is no point in feeding me expensive food because I cannot tell the difference.
One of the meats (I think is the Australian’s fat) came with a Barbie doll. Instead of finding it cute, I do think that it is quite unhygienic. Like, how do you wash that stupid Barbie doll after serving us with it? Also, they have one dish that was named ‘bolus of the former soviet union’. Not sure what it meant, but I think it was sotong ball? We didn’t order it though, but JY was telling me what kind of stupid name is that.
We even had stomach for a second round. We just spam the meat and the seafood HAHAHA. Sadly, the buffet doesn’t come with a dessert bar. They also didn’t have the thing to suck up the air from the bbq grill so my hair smelt like grilled meat for the whole afternoon. But overall, decent buffet. Not too expensive for weekend lunch but nothing special too. 一分钱一分货 HAHAHA.
Ah ma’s birthday is next week. Haven’t thought of what present to get her yet yikes.
