Went for a hiking event organized by the Scottish Singapore Student Council. We hiked up Beinn Dubh, which they called a ‘relatively mild walk’. Nonsense. It took up all of my energy for the week. Going up was tiring, but going down was scary and tiring. It’s tiring on the calf when going up and tiring on the knees when going down. Having aches all over my body now.
The view was nice, but it’s all mountain and sea. The clouds were extremely fluffy too.
This would probably be my last mountain climb. It’s too tiring and painful for unhealthy me.
One small step for QW, one giant leap for unhealthy people.
It’s a good thing I invested in this waterproof hiking shoes from mountain warehouse. Cost me about £20 but it’s really good and waterproof. The hike yesterday had a lot of muddy puddles but my socks remained dry throughout. It’s just a bit too loose for my feet, but that is probably because I didn’t adjust the shoelaces well.
Views from the hike:
We ended the hike at about 4pm but the bus is scheduled to arrive at 6:22pm so we went to see Loch Lomond which is nearby the village. It’s cold but the view is nice. There are ducks and swans(?) in the sea. There are speedboat tours there which I didn’t go, but it seems pretty worth the price (£10 for 20 minutes per adult).
We thought everyone had left by taxis or other transport because when we left the gift shop, everyone was gone. However, we saw all of them camping at the bus stop when we’re done with Loch Lomond. They probably stayed there for 2 hours or so by then. They could have gone to tour around!! It’s not like we will go there often (it’s a really secluded place).
Here’s the bad part. Citylink is a really stupid bus company that sells open return tickets but do not guarantee seats on board for those tickets holder. Luckily, the 3 of us bought fixed tickets (because it was cheaper and we thought if we ended early we could just hang around the village) but most of them bought the open return probably because they thought they could go back earlier if the hike ended early. But, the 6:22pm bus doesn’t have many empty seats, so besides the few of us with fixed time ticket, they could not board the bus. I don’t know how they got back in the end, but I feel so bad for them because first, they paid more than us, and second, they waited so long for the bus and could not board.
But I’ll blame the planning committee for not highlighting this fact. How would we know, especially for people who don’t stay in Glasgow? They could have chartered a bus for all of us and collected a fee instead of making us travel ourselves in a city we don’t live in. Haiz.
After being in poly for 3 years, I’ve seen very well-planned out events because everyone wants to be in the CCA committee, but only the best few can get it. However, it doesn’t seem to be the case here. Haiz, poly sure make me expect too much from these kids. Which I’m sure they are not really kids anymore.
Whatever. This would probably be the last event I attend. I rather enjoy my weekend resting than to tire myself so much.
We got bubble tea when we return back to Glasgow!
Had a simple dinner because we were rushing for 8:41pm train back to Dundee. We only had a few minutes and could not find the station. Luckily we made it in time, but our seats were taken by other people so we just sat in some empty unreserved seats. There were noisy children in the cabin but I was too tired to be bothered, but apparently, someone was annoyed and cursed the children. LOL. Then the children’s mom got angry and scolded back. Stupid
But yea, children need to shut up sometimes. Why would you run around singing out of tune songs? That’s not adorable, it’s stupid and 没家教. This is why I’m not fond of kids. 忍是能忍,但忍耐是有限度的。I feel that the person who got angry had his/her rights to be angry, and the mum does not have the rights to be angry. But yea, I don’t really care yesterday because I was just so zoned out from fatigue, but the fight sure caught my attention.
