Just hanged around the YHA Manchester’s lobby until it was time to leave for the airport. Left at about 4am-ish to the metrolink. Didn’t know the ride to airport is so uneventful and overall, yucky.
Reach airport at 5+am and headed straight to departure hall. Thank god I didn’t go and grab breakfast because I nearly missed my flight. The damn security check took a total of 45 minutes because of long queue, and how they emptied out half my belongings. Seriously… Had to run to the boarding gate because once I’m done with the check, the announcement that the boarding gate will be closing soon was on. Basically, I took the flight on an empty stomach with only chips.
The flight was ok, nothing special beside the fact that the seats behind me have no cushions. Not sure what happened. Initially thought it was my row and kind of panicked because who knows if they will have additional seats ya? But that row is 31 and I’m on row 30.
Took off on time, I fell asleep right after take off. Didn’t wake up until I need the toilet urgently.
Smooth flight and cleared custom really quickly because there is no queue. Had to walk two terminals to find the trio though. That was the first time seeing S and P in months, and first time seeing J.
Bought the transport ticket and we headed to our first stop, Berlin Wall Memorial. The wall had been demolished and all was left was some poles in place of the wall. I thought we would see the real wall but I guess not.
We then visited the Brandenburg Gate which is just… a gate? It was supposed to look really nice at night, but given that it will only be dark at 9pm-ish now, we won’t get to see it. We also walked to the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. I don’t really understand the structures, and didn’t see any explanation around.
But dang, I really hope such cruelty would never happen again. 🙏🏻 Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone lives peacefully together? Why hate people because of race and religion? That doesn’t make sense.
We then went to try currywurst at Curry 36. Pathetic me wasn’t feeling well at this point for unknown reasons. I figured it is probably because I haven’t recovered from my exam ‘diet’ (which is basically junk food) or the heat. Yea, heat because 20 degrees Celsius is too hot for QW. Currywurst is good.
Went to check in Airbnb because lugging luggage is tiring. There are just so many stairs in Germany and very little lifts. Oh, there was a nice elderly man who pointed out lifts for us at Brandenburg Gate. Very nice of him.
After we checked in, apparently none of us is energetic enough to visit the rest of the itinerary so we just lazed around the flat. We did went out eventually to the nearby Lidl to get grocery.
Bought pasta stuff for dinner but we all fell asleep before we ate dinner LOL. Good times.
