I don’t think I’ve updated anything about RM life since the post about moving in.
So yes, I’m still stuck in Garage but I’ve grown to love this learning space way more than the rest. Maybe it’s a good thing I’m in Garage instead of Giveback because I sure am having a lot of fun.
So far, I’ve ran two soldering workshops over two AYs, even though it’s in the same year HAHA. Running a workshop sure is fun, and I’m really thankful I have the other Garage RMs around to help me out. Guess which dummy caught Covid right before one of her workshop? yeah me. But luckily the rest helped me run the session 😊. I don’t think I can ask for better RMs in Garage le HAHAHA. Well the soldering workshops are pretty successful I think, but I’ll be honest. I’m bored of it and want to try something new next AY but at the same time, I’m scared of low sign-ups because whatever I’m planning is less beginner friendly.
Anyway, we had a whole bunch of stuff this AY because COVID is over. Yup, they resumed the walkabout and some handover dinner and allowed for more workshops this AY. The walkabout and handover dinner thingy sure is a good distraction for my broken heart AHAHA. Oh ya and we had a Garage workshop also and I remembered sitting through the whole thing so I won’t be curling up on my bed being sad LOL. Even though I don’t understand like 95% of what’s going on. And hall councils are finally planning fun stuff and I’m getting to live the hall life I missed out because I rejected NTU in the past for Donedee.
We cleaned up the Garage finally and threw out a lot of trash that we inherited from our seniors. We finally have more floor space!
We had a drone workshop this week too. I mean, flying drones are fun right? Not like I understood much but it was fun, chilling and watching people fly in the simulator lol. There’s still a second session but shall see my mood if I want to go.
And yesterday, we went to Bukit Ho Swee for Giveback day. Which is compulsory for us RMs. God, I was so tired before the event because I didn’t sleep the night before (some of us RMs were having games night and I stayed longer to discuss stuff). It was a good game night though, we had good (and some bland) snacks, fun games and good company.
The Giveback day was fun though. I was lucky enough to be sent to a cleaned house. So basically I just helped to clean three fans and wipe windows. The group that went upstairs wasn’t that lucky unfortunately. Spent a good time chatting with the auntie which was fun! To the point that we lost track of time and went back to the gathering place late hehe.
Oh and for this AY, I unfortunately or fortunately idk am the facilitator for Pioneer. I didn’t even volunteer for it sia lol but somehow it got to me. On the bright side, the co-chair role didn’t roll to me so that’s a yay. Plus facil just have to plan fun stuff so it’s not too bad I guess. The only annoying thing is not getting much money to work with. And there’s nobody to reference from because all the fun, social stuff stopped during covid and nobody knows how the first few batches of RMs did the facilitator role. So I guess we will have to start our own tradition, post-COVID era. HAHHA.
All I know is that they used to have overseas trips, which I now think are self-funded. And they had a fun room which was left to rot, probably due to COVID. It’s damp and full of mold. Freaking gross.
Since no RMs should know I have this little diary, I shall reveal some of the plans we facils came up with for this AY heehee!
We are looking into having supper night next month, an end-of-semester party (and maybe an early graduation party for some seniors), JB retreat, and some gathering during summer break. We’ll see what we can do.✌🏻
