Started the trip wrong by forgetting to bring a charging cable (lmao) so I had to splurge and buy one at the airport…
Terminal 4 is… Boring. I was quite hyped for the entertainment corner but it’s meh and one of the racing machine was broken. No wonder nobody was heading there.
Basically just sat there and scrolled tiktok till it was final call to board the plane. Never understood why people rush to board because you’re gon be stuck in that seat for hours. Why would you want to prolong it? Especially in economy class bro.
Cute air steward spotted but he was serving the other aisle. 🥲
Short flight to HK. I feel like Cathay downgraded a lot since my last flight with them during uni days. Was their tv screen always this small? And they didn’t even serve a hot meal this time, just sandwich (ew), a tiny muffin, biscuit and a few pieces of fruits. Not even tea was given, just a bottle of water for everyone. I mean I know it’s a midnight flight but iirc, the flight during my uni days was late night too and I got a meal. 🫣
Anyway, finished the food and wanted to sleep because I haven’t slept in 20+ hours probably and the last sleep I had lasted only like 4 hours? But god tell me why I had to be seated in the same row as a screaming baby 💩 I know the father tried but ugh shut up kid. Every time I fall asleep that ahole would scream and I would wake up even more tired than before.
Oh well, landed safely and I made a dash to mac donald to try HK mac breakfast. They have the macaroni soup thing for like $6-ish sgd so I had to try it. I wanted to record a time lapse of the sunrise but it turned out to be just a time lapse of me eating via the reflection on the window.
The flight to incheon airport was… Worse. First, we had to take a stupid shuttle to the plane. Which was crowded af. Then I realized the plane was… Budget looking. The tv was tiny and miserable, even worse than the first flight’s. It has a resolution that look worse than the plane that I took while in pri sch.
No cute air steward here sadly but the one that gave me my meal was not bad. For some reason all the air steward and stewardess at Cathay always speak Cantonese to me. I guess I look Hong Kong-y?
The dimsum breakfast was nice because I was hungry. Knocked out right after eating. No more crying baby this time and slept super well since I had the entire row to myself. Yep, 4 seats, to myself. Only woke up when the air stewardess woke me for landing.
Immigration at ICN took forever. We landed around 12:30pm and I only cleared immigration past 1:30pm. Fml. Luckily I did not purchase arex ticket in advance or I would had missed it. Initially planned to booked the 1:30pm train lmao. Was contemplating if I should book the 2pm train while queueing for immigration but it was so risky so I thought I’ll just buy it when I reach the train platform.
Got my luggage and went straight to the train platform only to realize 2pm train was SOLD OUT! The next one was at 2:30-ish which meant that I would reach seoul station around 3:30pm. That’s too much risk for me because my ktx was at 3:44pm.
So I took the all stop train. 🥲 At least I got a seat I guess.
Reached Seoul Station with time to spare, no rush. Bought a snack and went for my train to busan. First class sure is comfy. Fell asleep halfway through the journey and only woke up when we were near Busan.
Had to take a packed bus to the hostel, sadly. That was an uncomfortable ride after a nice ktx journey sigh.
Got to the hostel and the scenario I imagined really came true. They really messed up my booking. Oh well. Thankfully there were other rooms available so I’ll be spending a night in the twin capsule and another night in the single after two nights in the corner.
Checked in. The view of the beach is really nice but I’m starting to ask myself why did I spend ~$50 a night on this accom HAHAHA it didn’t even have a door. But ok, it’s supposed to be a capsule so… I guess it fits the theme.
At least the toilet is clean 👍🏻
It was late by the time I checked in, decided to just grab dinner from 7-11 instead of roaming around for proper meal because I was ready to hit the bed already after travelling around the whole day. I got myself a cup noodle and had it by the gwangalli beach while enjoying the swing. And got the triangle rice thingy with spicy pork which was really nice to have back in my room.
Slept so well even though the mattress was kinda thin. Hopefully Seoul’s accom bed will be better. 🤍
