Woke up at 6AM to film a time lapse of the sunrise. I checked the sunrise timing the previous night and it’s supposed to be around 6:30am so my genius (and probably tired out) brain thought “ahhh, I can start it at 6am”.
No I can’t.
The free breakfast at this hostel is a package of cup noodles, cereal and milk. I had the cup noodles. Let’s just say I never tasted spicy noodles of that level before. It was spicier than shin for sure. But still nice though.
I had absolutely no plan for the day, so I was searching up where to go while having breakfast. Decided to go for Gamcheon Culture Village, BIFF square and the nearby attractions.
Took the subway to Toseong station and caught the minibus up to Gamcheon Village. Can I just say that I felt like I was gambling with my life taking the minibus? The turns was so scary and steep wtf.
Gamcheon Culture Village is very… catered to the koreaboos. I mean yeah the houses are pretty but there’s really nothing else tbh. There’s the wall with BTS which surprisingly have lesser people taking photos there compared to the little prince (?) statue. There’s a lot of shops selling kpop stuff and hilariously enough, I walked past a shop selling merch and the only guy I can recognize is s.coups. Yikes I’m too out of touch with the recent idols.
Bought myself a nice smoothie and belatedly realize there’s a problem with public trashcan in Korea. It’s like Japan trip again. Had to hold the empty cup for a long time haiz.
Decided to walk down instead of gambling my life on the minibus. Naver map is crazy enough to make me take stairs in creepy alley but good thing I made it out alive and not lost. 👍🏻
Went to BIFF square (BIFF 광장). It was crowded. Lots of food. Wandered aimlessly, ended up at some market nearby selling even more food and at cheaper price compared to BIFF.
Got myself a spicy fried chicken and ddeok. It was delicious. But good thing I got the small one, it was just nice. The spicy flavor in Korea really meant spicy and I’m loving it.
Wandered around more and ended up at the jalgachi fish market which was the one attraction I wanted to avoid because I hated the smell of raw fishes. Quickly exited the place, and an eomuk shop caught my eye. Got myself a stick and god it was so good (and warm). Was thinking about going back to accoms early but from the corner of my eye, I saw lotte department stall so I headed there. It’s just a shopping mall I guess, with cinema and lotte mart and lots of food stalls and fashion stalls. I saw Bee Cheng Hiang and Din Tai Fung there lol. There’s a food court like dining area but I wasn’t feeling like having a full meal.
Rested a bit and decided to visit the Yongdusan park (용두산공원). Frigging Naver tried to make me take the long and probably tiring way but luckily halfway through, I saw a sign on the floor pointing towards an “escalator to Yongdusan park” and I decided to ditch Naver map and followed it. Good choice because escalator. ✨
Got a nice view of Busan Tower but it seem pretty ordinary to me.
Headed back to rest because my legs were aching real bad after walking for hours.
While resting, I was searching up recommended food and found this Haeundae 31cm Seafood Noodle Soup Gwangan Branch (해운대 31cm해물칼국수). For some reason it didn’t register in my brain that 31cm would be the size of the bowl. But anyway there’s good reviews on Naver and initially was a little put off by the not that good reviews on Google, but the shop was like 5mins walk away so I set up my time lapse camera and headed out for early dinner.
The shop was empty except for an elderly couple. Which is good because I like to dine in peace. There was enough seafood, soup is nice and definitely enough noodles. I ate well. 👍🏻
Decided to rest early for more energy the next day. Saturday will be more fun and gotta stay up to view the drone show! Not too sure where I wanna visit yet, the plan for now is probably the famous temple and something nearby.
